Accounting Regulatory Compliance Specialist

The Elliott Gray team is seeking an experienced Accounting Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our growing organization. This role will be pivotal in the development of our internal function to audit, regulate, advise, and assist members in building and refining robust trust accounting processes and systems across the ACT.
As a key member of our regulatory services team, you will work closely with our Regulatory Services Manager and Finance & Business Services Manager to develop your knowledge of trust accounting and the legislation that governs it. You will have the opportunity to work with our leadership team to shape the role as the function evolves.
This is a rare opportunity for you to pivot your career and combine your technical accounting skills with risk management and investigative curiosity. You will forensically analyze ledgers and reconciliations, identify errors and patterns, and help firms develop and refine their procedures to reduce their risk of non-compliance.
We are looking for a certified accountant who is CA or CPA qualified (or in their final year of completion) with experience in financial accounting within small business or non-profit environments. Some exposure to audit, investigations, insolvency, or senior bookkeeping would also be highly regarded.
In this role, you will enjoy training others, comfortable teaching one-on-one, and confident in delivering sessions to build on the knowledge of trust accounting to practice leaders across the ACT's legal sector. You will have a commitment to continuous improvement and enjoy working with stakeholders and clients to achieve required outcomes.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $120,000 per annum, flexibility in their work arrangements, a standard full-time equivalent work week of 35 hours, additional paid leave over the Christmas shutdown period, and one 'Wellness Day' every 6 months to maintain a healthy work-life balance. They will also be part of a brand-new office in the city centre from early 2025.
