Electrical Engineering Professional Wanted

Powertech provides leading Electrical Engineering Services, focusing on high-voltage and low-voltage engineering, installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance services to clients across various sectors.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Perth. The ideal candidate will have strong theoretical and practical knowledge of high-voltage primary plant and secondary systems.

The role may involve national and international travel on a project-by-project basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commissioning, testing, and maintaining high-voltage protection systems, including experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE communications.
  • Commissioning, testing, and maintaining high-voltage substations secondary systems and primary plant.
  • Commissioning, testing, and maintaining various high-voltage/low-voltage plant/assets.
  • Commissioning, testing, and maintaining power generation systems.
  • Commissioning, testing, and maintaining power transformers.
  • Providing technical support and training to technicians.
  • Providing leadership and supervision to technicians.
  • Preparing commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans, and detailed technical reports.
Requirements
  • A preferable 'A Grade' (Fitter and Mechanic) Electrical Workers License or an Engineering Degree/Diploma in Power Systems from Engineers Australia recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • An HV Switching Ticket preferred.
  • Experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout viewed favourably.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian and International Standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to meet project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in using the Omicron suite of equipment for secondary system testing.
  • Power Station experience viewed favourably.
