Job Overview:

The Operations Director plays a key role in driving business success through effective management of operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Health, Safety, and Environment: Implement proactive health, safety, and environmental practices, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Integrate health and safety management into all levels of the organization, evaluate performance, and oversee accident/incident investigations.

- Financial Management: Focus on strategic objectives, monitor performance, and manage site-level financial outcomes according to budget expectations. Make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal revenue, margins, and cash flow.

- Operational Excellence: Provide oversight for weekly and monthly activities, ensuring compliance with management plans. Review project revenues and costs, maintain familiarity with project contracts, and prepare comprehensive reports for senior management. Mentor and guide subordinates to drive performance and growth.

- New Business Development: Identify and pursue suitable business opportunities, particularly with existing clients and target growth areas. Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and contribute to the formulation and review of tenders to meet financial criteria.

Requirements:

- 15+ years of project/contract management experience in the civil infrastructure sector

- Strong knowledge of the civil/infrastructure & mining industry and relevant tertiary degree qualifications in Engineering and Commerce

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with an executive team as an advisor and leader

- Comprehensive understanding of civil & mining techniques, technologies, and infrastructure

- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and budgeting skills

- High level of commercial acumen and experience providing commercial support to key operational and corporate executives

Desirable Skills:

- Considerable project and contract management experience

- Good people management, interpersonal, and leadership skills

- Familiarity with various civil & mining methods and relevant legislation
