Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Anatomical Pathology team at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities, including the coordination and provision of scientific and technical training, and the ongoing review, development, and quality management of laboratory practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality laboratory services, including anatomical pathology techniques such as microtomy, embedding, and allocation.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to provide an excellent and integral service to the Mid North Coast region.
  • Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.
  • Provide scientific and technical training to laboratory staff.
  • Contribute to the development of laboratory practices and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services relevant to the laboratory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities.
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements that impact the laboratory environment.
