Role: Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Peer Support Specialist. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital part in supporting children and young people with neurodiversity as they navigate diagnostic assessments and post-diagnostic support.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with personal lived experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other neurodevelopmental disorders. You will utilise your own experiences to empower children and young people, providing child and family-friendly resources and amplifying their voices within the team.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
This role requires a strong commitment to putting recovery values and principles into practice. You will be expected to seek support when needed and effectively challenge practice and language use when necessary.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic towards and understanding of the specialist nature of this role, with motivation towards promoting and developing the Peer Support function.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires reliability, professionalism, non-judgmental attitudes, tolerance, compassion, and respect.
Key Responsibilities- Support and engage children and young people throughout diagnostic assessments
- Consider reasonable adjustments required during the assessment process
- Empower children and young people by providing accessible resources
- Involving families and carers in the assessment process
- Provide post-diagnostic support to children and young people and their families
- Good secondary education level
- Commitment to completing the CNTW Peer Supporter Educational Programme
- Completion of Peer Support Specialist Training or similar training
- Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training and certification
