The Role of Head of Home Claims Operations

This senior leadership position requires a proven track record of driving efficiency, excellence, and strategic growth across operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • As a Head of Home Claims Operations, you will provide strategic & operational leadership to the team, working closely with the leadership team and General Manager.
  • You will lead managers, team leaders, and consultants to deliver cost-effective claim outcomes while maintaining exceptional service standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring your team to create a high-performance culture is essential to this role.
  • Guide your team through strategic planning, procurement, contract management, negotiations, and policy adherence to achieve business objectives.
  • Support the GM Home Claims Management and Operations to meet annual business plans by setting objectives and managing work impacting business results.
  • Develop systems to monitor contract deliverables, service levels, and outcomes to enhance organizational agility and scalability.
  • Establish reporting routines to track business performance and analytics.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve systemic issues and improve the customer journey.
  • Identify opportunities to increase digital engagement and develop strategies to leverage digital channels.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Leadership experience in procurement, complaints, service recovery, or vulnerable customer care, preferably within Home Claims or Insurance.
  • Strong systemic thinking, root cause analysis, and systemic improvement skills are essential.
  • Relationship building, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills are necessary for success in this role.
  • Passion for service transformation, customer advocacy, and supporting vulnerable communities is a must.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations such as Australian Consumer Law and Privacy Act is desired.
