Job Title: Field Surveillance Specialist

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Field Surveillance Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveillance and treatment activities in challenging environments, including rainforest habitats.

The role requires working safely with machetes, navigating challenging terrain, and carrying essential equipment. You will also be exposed to tropical weather conditions, potentially hazardous flora and fauna, and must be able to walk considerable distances every day.

We are seeking candidates with experience in intensive outdoor laboring, including residential, bushland, and rainforest field work. A strong focus on workplace health and safety is essential, along with the ability to recognize, manage, and follow directions. Additionally, you will need a current valid open manual C (car) class QLD drivers' licence and be willing to undergo a physical functional assessment and obtain a National Police Check.

The ideal candidate will be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status, with a willingness to work through varied and challenging environmental conditions for long periods of time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely use a machete in rainforest environments to undertake surveillance and treatment activities.
  • Conduct surveillance and treatment activities in terrain defined as challenging slopes, steep gradients, dense vegetation.
  • Carry sufficient operational equipment, food, and water for an entire day.
  • Exposure to tropical weather conditions, dangerous flora, and fauna.
  • Walk considerable distances every day, including elevation in rainforest habitat (up to 60 minutes and up to approximately 15 kilometres a day).
Requirements
  • Experience in intensive outdoor laboring, including residential, bushland, and rainforest field work.
  • Ability to work through varied and challenging environmental conditions for long periods of time.
  • WHS focus - ability to recognise, manage, and follow workplace health and safety directions.
  • Current valid open manual C (car) class QLD drivers' licence.
  • Willingness and ability to pass Drug and Alcohol test and Physical Functional Assessment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a National Police Check.
  • Must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status.
