Heavy Plant Operator Role

The role of a Heavy Plant Operator is to operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, rollers and loaders, as well as job trucks and slashers.

They are also required to perform labouring duties and manual handling tasks as needed.

Working in a hot and humid climate requires the operator to be physically fit and able to efficiently undertake tasks.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Works team in Mareeba Shire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating and maintaining heavy plant equipment
  • Performing labouring duties and manual handling tasks
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
Requirements:
  • A current valid driver's licence
  • A certificate of competency in Plant Operations or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of mechanical principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The role is physically demanding and requires the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
