We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Marketing Planner to join our team at GroupM in Sydney. This role will play a crucial part in supporting our mission to deliver consistency, delivery excellence, and best-in-class service for Amazon in every country across its diverse businesses.

The Role

As a Planning Associate Director, you will be responsible for leading planning responses to briefs, working closely with the strategy team to create actionable communication tasks. You will address those comms tasks with relevant media channels, exploring tactics within each channel that unlock short- and long-term objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and interrogate client briefs, understanding both business and communications objectives.
  • Recommend sufficiency of investments within channels to ensure effective use of channels within client responses.
  • Maintain engagement with media partners to maintain knowledge of the media landscape and understanding of core media principles and capabilities.
  • Understand internal product teams, including GroupM product and service teams, to ensure relevance to client challenges.
  • Identify audiences and define audiences that drive outcomes for campaign briefs within single source.
  • Report on audience media consumption trends and habits.
  • Deliver in-channel ideation and tactics within campaign planning.
  • Create consumer journey maps across paid media.
  • Develop a point of view on media planning principles and utilize agency and industry tools to enhance planned recommendations.

Requirements

  • Holds a deep practical knowledge of Media Planning.
  • Requires a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Relevant qualification in Media or Marketing.
  • Experience leading projects, preferably with a qualification in Project Management.

  • Experience within Retail, Entertainment, and/or Technology.
  • Ability to craft, size, and justify audience definitions with limited first-party data.
  • Passion for narrative writing and persuasive arguments.
