About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate music educator to join our team as a Music Educator and Choral Director. This is a part-time role that will involve planning, developing, and delivering a comprehensive music program for upper Junior School and Middle School students.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Kodály method and experience with its integration into the music curriculum. They will also have previous experience teaching music from Years 5-9 in a school setting and team environment, as well as previous choral experience in a school setting.

The Music Educator and Choral Director will be responsible for leading the choral direction of co-curricular choirs, preparing students for performances, and developing music curriculum as part of a team. They will also support weekly assemblies, concerts, and soirees, and advocate for the positive impact of music education through regular contributions to the school's communication platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a wide range of students, with a focus on teaching in a Kodály-based curriculum
  • Develop music curriculum as part of a team
  • Lead the choral direction of co-curricular choirs
  • Prepare students for performances and events
  • Support weekly assemblies, concerts, and soirees
  • Advocate for the positive impact of music education
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Music and Education
  • Previous experience teaching music from Years 5-9 in a school setting and team environment
  • Previous choral experience in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of the Kodály method and experience with its integration into the music curriculum
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
