Position Overview:

The Assistant Branch Manager is accountable for overseeing and coordinating the operations of platform and teller services under the guidance of the branch manager. This role involves directing, supervising, and managing the activities of branch staff, including platform personnel, receptionists, and tellers in a full-service environment focused on lending, member engagement, training, employee growth, service excellence, and sales performance. The Assistant Branch Manager will also oversee daily operations in the absence of the branch manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations and Risk Management:

  • Exhibit leadership and sound judgment to minimize risks, safeguard member assets, and ensure the security of the branch and its operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, adherence to established policies, and enforcement of dual control measures.
  • Oversee accurate completion of daily branch settlements, cash management, and maintenance of branch records, including monthly audits.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in settlements.
  • Delegate authority appropriately to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the branch's physical appearance meets established standards.
  • Report any safety or maintenance issues related to the building.
  • Evaluate work quality and ensure timely resolution of errors to enhance member satisfaction.

Culture and Leadership:

  • Assist the branch manager in planning and executing strategies to enhance overall branch performance.
  • Foster member loyalty through consultative interactions and tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with the branch manager to coordinate and lead staff in delivering efficient and courteous services, including account openings, business banking relationships, and loan processing.
  • Embody APGFCU values by promoting a safe and secure workplace.
  • Demonstrate commitment to employee development through performance evaluations and disciplinary action plans.
  • Encourage continuous learning for both self and staff through various educational resources.
  • Identify and address causes of subpar performance and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain an environment of open communication, positive employee relations, and high productivity.

Member Experience and Sales:

  • Lead and implement a structured sales process aligned with our mission of empowering members to achieve financial success.
  • Enhance best practices through service and sales meetings, tracking, coaching, and follow-up.
  • Uphold ethical sales practices through inspections, coaching, and staff meetings.
  • Promote consultative selling techniques, utilizing all available resources to encourage daily service and sales activities.
  • Support the branch manager in achieving monthly performance goals.
  • Provide coaching to staff to develop their skills through observational coaching and recommendations for further training.
  • Assist the branch manager in preparing and reviewing monthly performance standards with each employee.

Business Development:

  • Support the branch manager in developing and promoting APGFCU through community engagement and business partnerships.
  • Coordinate outreach activities, including participation in local events and community initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to raise awareness of APGFCU and drive membership growth.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with training and federal regulations pertinent to this role.

Qualifications:

Leadership: Strong leadership, motivational, and managerial skills with a professional demeanor. Integrity and ethical standards are essential.

Education: An Associate's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: A minimum of three years in a financial institution, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A team player who thrives in a dynamic environment, well-organized, capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines with attention to detail. Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills are required. Familiarity with branch administrative procedures and financial transaction documentation is necessary.

Physical Demands: The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand, walk, use hands for various tasks, and communicate effectively. The role may involve lifting and moving items up to 25 pounds.
