Role Overview

The Sunshine Coast Haematology & Oncology Clinics are seeking a permanent part-time Haematology/Oncology Registered Nurse with recent experience in medical haematology and/or medical oncology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based comprehensive oncology nursing care that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Practice in accordance with QLD Health Legislation and ACQSHC National Standards to ensure best practices.
  • Provide holistic nursing care, conduct high-level patient assessments, and make referrals for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality improvements and collaborate with the Quality and Clinical Governance team to implement effective changes.
  • Conduct nursing observations and administer medications in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with Oncologists and the multidisciplinary team to achieve shared goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Recent medical haematology and/or oncology experience, demonstrating expertise in this field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, showcasing empathy and compassion for patients and their caregivers.
  • Strong clinical and problem-solving abilities, enabling effective decision-making.
  • Effective care planning and coordination skills, ensuring seamless patient transitions.
  • Dedication to quality improvement and evidence-based practice, driving continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, fostering open communication and respect.
  • Experience administering cytotoxic chemotherapy and related cancer treatments, including ADAC chemotherapy competency.
  • Competency in PICC, PORT, IV cannulation, and phlebotomy, demonstrating technical proficiency.
