Accountant and Bookkeeper Opportunity in Sydney

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our financial health and supporting strategic decisions.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
  • Manage the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience (5+ years) in accounting, bookkeeping, and tax compliance, ideally within a small to medium-sized business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management
  • Bookkeeping and Financial Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
  • General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
Project Accounting
  • Track, report, and analyze project costs and budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers to prepare financial forecasts and support decision-making.
Compliance and Lodgements
  • Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly BAS and other statutory requirements on time.
  • Assist in meeting compliance obligations, including end-of-year financial statements and audits.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Generate regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Offer insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiencies.
Strategic Advice for Growth
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to align accounting processes with business goals.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to support scale-up and new revenue streams.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting, bookkeeping, and tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting regulations and taxation laws.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Xero) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving capability.
