Remote Sensing Specialist for Soil Organic Carbon Research

The primary goal of this project is to develop a high-resolution mapping system for soil organic carbon (SOC) at the field scale. This will involve investigating the suitability of various satellite datasets, including Sentinel 2 and Sentinel 1, as well as exploring the potential of emerging technologies like PRISMA and EnMAP.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a sophisticated SOC mapping system using advanced remote sensing techniques.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of the strengths and limitations of different satellite sensors, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Design and execute a comprehensive sampling strategy to validate the accuracy of the SOC maps.
- Produce high-quality SOC maps for multiple time periods, highlighting changes in SOC levels over time.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as geography, environmental science, or remote sensing.
- Exceptional knowledge of Earth observation data and satellite imagery processing.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, with experience in working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and their application in remote sensing.
- Knowledge of spatial analysis and geographic information systems (GIS).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex ideas clearly.
