About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Design Manager to join our team at Metcash. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for delivering industry-leading retail designs for our Metcash Food & Grocery retailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, draft, and document new and refurbished supermarket fit-outs from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders' briefs, budgets, and Metcash requirements.
- Manage the review and approval of all projects efficiently and timely, adhering to internal best practices, processes, and standards.
- Coordinate all internal and external design and construction documents to ensure compatibility with approved store fit-out requirements.
- Review and comment on design documentation provided by developers and independent retailers to offer the best outcome for the supermarket.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, company standards, and compatibility with tenancy.
- Consult and coordinate with external consultants, including developers, architects, engineers, building surveyors, disability access consultants, and others.
- Work with internal and external parties to achieve goals, such as property, retail development, legal, commercial managers, councils, consultants, builders, and others.
- Analyze space and make recommendations to optimize our store estate, improving functionality, customer experience, and financial performance.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in architectural or interior design.
- Experience in supermarket or food convenience retail design and documentation, preferably.
- High-level working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, with competence in Revit family creation advantageous.
- Competence in Enscape or similar presentation software.
- Demonstrated presentation skills, with a portfolio of relevant works (2D/3D) indicating design, documentation, and presentation competence.
- Strong working knowledge of supermarket requirements, including equipment, joinery, flow, layout, operations, food prep/safety, services (MEP), regulatory/statutory (BCA/NCC/DDA and Australian Standards).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Creativity, teamwork, and time management are essential.
