Nurse Unit Manager Job Description

The Nurse Unit Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the emergency department, overseeing day-to-day clinical and resource management, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support nursing staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Oversee daily operational management, including clinical governance, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Drive initiatives to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Support staff recruitment, rostering, and performance management.
Requirements
  • Must have current registration with AHPRA and relevant nursing qualifications.
  • Minimum eight years' post-graduate experience, with recent management experience in a hospital setting.
  • Proven leadership skills to mentor, develop, and inspire clinical teams.
  • Strong financial, human resource, and operational management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
