About the Role

Softtest pays pty ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining our Linux systems infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deployment: Design and deploy scalable and secure Linux systems infrastructure to meet the needs of our business.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the stability and security of our Linux systems.
  • Security Best Practices: Implement and enforce security best practices to protect our systems and data from cyber threats.
  • Collaboration Tools: Utilize collaboration tools such as Git, issue tracking, and wikis to facilitate communication and collaboration with team members.
  • Network Protocols: Understand and implement network protocols to ensure seamless communication between systems.
Desirable Skills
  • Centralised Logging: Experience with centralised logging solutions such as ElasticSearch or Splunk.
  • Cyber Security Practices: Knowledge of cyber security practices such as the Australian Government Information Security Manual or Essential 8.
  • Issue Tracking and Collaboration Tools: Experience with issue tracking and collaboration tools such as Git, GitLab, or ServiceNow.
  • Code Management and Tracking: Knowledge of code management and tracking tools such as Git or GitLab.
  • Networking: Experience with networking concepts such as switching, routing, ACLs, VPN, proxies, and IPSEC.
  • Monitoring Systems: Knowledge of monitoring systems such as CheckMK or SNMP.
  • NoSQL Databases: Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
  • SQL Databases: Knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Web Servers: Experience with web servers such as nginx.
  • Message Queues/Event Streaming: Knowledge of message queues/event streaming solutions such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • Workflow Orchestration: Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Nifi, Prefect, or Airflow.
  • Cloud Platform Providers: Knowledge of cloud platform providers such as Azure, AWS, or Google.
  • Minimum 5 Years Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Australian Government Clearance: Possession of AFP Negative Vetting Level 1 or the ability to obtain one.
