Senior Solicitor, Privacy Team

The Department of Health Victoria is seeking a highly skilled Senior Solicitor to join our Privacy Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal and policy advice to support the department's commitment to protecting client privacy and promoting the sharing of information to improve Victorian healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Provide authoritative advice on legal and policy issues related to privacy and information sharing.
- Support the Specialist Privacy Lead in providing expert policy and legal advice to Ministers, the Secretary, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the management of privacy breaches in operational divisions and identify emerging privacy-related risks.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote a culture of privacy and information sharing within the department.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies and services impacted by sensitive and complex issues.
- Provide mentoring and professional development support to less experienced solicitors and paralegal staff.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and work collaboratively to develop continuous improvement systems and processes.
- Hold a current practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law.
- Experience advising on the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and drafting privacy impact assessments in relation to technology-based agile project management will be highly regarded.
