About the Role

The Graduate Research Officer role presents an exciting opportunity to undertake research and provide advice on a broad range of issues affecting local government. Reporting to the Legal Officer, you will support the provision of advice to Local Government NSW and its members on legal issues, case law and legislation.

  • You will be involved in researching and analyzing complex information to inform advice and recommendations.
  • You will assist in developing and maintaining knowledge on key areas of law, including the Local Government Act and Regulations, Planning and Environment Law, Property Law, Contract Law, Code of Conduct issues and complaints, Council meetings and procedures, and privacy and access to information.

  • Researching and analyzing complex information to inform advice and recommendations.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge on key areas of law.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess or be working towards tertiary qualifications in law, hold or be eligible to hold a practising certificate as a Solicitor within 6 months of commencement, and have experience in interpreting legislation and case law.
