Job Overview

We are seeking a driven professional to fill the role of Sales Agronomist in our Northern QLD office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strong customer relationships with broadacre sugar cane cropping farmers.

Mackay is a critical agricultural area with reliable rainfall and various sub-tropical farming activities including sugar cane and broadacre cropping. This makes it an ideal place to develop your career in agronomy.

Responsibilities

A typical day may involve:

Providing agronomic and technical support to farmers and producers in the region, along with product sales both in-store and on-farm. Building long-term client relationships requires a deep understanding of their business goals and sharing technical and market information to improve performance and sustainability. Maintaining existing customer relationships while targeting new clients through superior sales and agronomic input will position you as a subject matter expert in the region for horticultural agronomic inputs and advice.

Requirements
  • Established yourself as a trusted advisor in an agronomy role with a strong understanding of products, seasonal timings, and general requirements of rural producers.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, organisational, administrative, and computing skills, along with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven understanding of the sales process and strong sales activity and call cycle management.
  • Knowledge of horticultural agronomy is advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualification in agricultural science or a related field and a current driver's license are essential.
