Job Title: Project Development Manager

Job Description

  • Project development involves leading the execution of large-scale renewable energy projects, from feasibility through to construction handover. The goal is to deliver projects on time and within budget while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

  • This includes managing project risks, timelines, and reporting in a transparent and efficient manner. Building relationships with landowners, community members, regulators, and councils are crucial for successful project delivery.

  • The role requires collaborating with stakeholders to identify and assess new project opportunities. Conducting field-based feasibility assessments and providing clear advice on development risks and mitigation strategies are also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of large-scale renewable energy projects across Australia.

  • Manage project life cycle from feasibility through to construction handover, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.

  • Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to drive project success.

  • Monitor and manage project risks, timelines, and reporting.

  • Support internal project approval processes and IC preparation.

Site Origination and Strategic Planning

  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, community members, regulators, and councils.

  • Represent project interests at community information sessions and council meetings.

  • Develop strategic plans for project origination and implementation.

Stakeholder Engagement and Approvals

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and ensure that their needs and expectations are met.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policy changes at local, state, and federal levels.

Land Acquisition and Negotiation

  • Negotiate land access agreements with landowners, supported by legal counsel.

  • Build strong relationships with landowners throughout the project lifecycle.

Commercial Analysis

  • Conduct thorough due diligence processes for project acquisitions and internal reviews.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in renewable energy development, focusing on large-scale solar and/or energy storage projects.

  • Tertiary qualification in a related field is preferred, such as engineering, environmental science, or urban planning.

  • Familiarity with National Electricity Market regulations and grid connection processes is essential.

  • Proven ability to manage development approvals, engage stakeholders, and negotiate effectively.

  • Understanding of local community dynamics and the ability to work across cultural boundaries are crucial.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading project work streams is highly valued.
