Leadership Opportunity

The Senior Manager will drive strategic leadership and oversight of a portfolio of industries. Key responsibilities include developing and delivering a portfolio strategy, engaging stakeholders, and implementing a Stakeholder Engagement Framework.

The ideal candidate will have proven ability to develop and implement portfolio strategies, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and strong leadership capability.

A tertiary qualification in science, business management or economics is required, along with 10+ years of experience in Program Management.

Key competencies include financial planning and program management skills, knowledge of Australian agriculture, and commitment to delivering positive outcomes for stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be able to take an entrepreneurial approach to securing co-investment, lead a team of Program Managers and Coordinators, and manage external partnerships to deliver high-quality outputs.

Desirable experience includes leading teams to achieve high performance, monitoring and evaluating program and project performance, and outstanding stakeholder liaison skills.

Competency Requirements:
  • Proven ability to develop and implement portfolio strategies
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Strong leadership capability with experience in coaching, collaboration, and accountability
  • Understanding of rural R&D systems and pathways for communication and extension
  • Excellent financial, planning, and program management skills
  • Knowledge of Australian agriculture and empathy for rural communities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in science, business management or economics or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience within Program Management including identification of R&D priorities, developing R&D plans and supporting budgets, commissioning, contracting and managing R&D projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in rural issues and the role of rural research and development with an appreciation of delivery of R&D outcomes to end users
  • Experience in leading team(s) to achieve high performance
  • Desirable experience in monitoring, evaluating and reporting on program and project performance
