About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Remote Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team in promoting participation in the Census.

The successful candidate will play a key role in connecting us with stakeholders and members of the community in regional and remote areas, maximising participation in the Census.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create engagement plans tailored to specific communities
  • Update stakeholder management systems with all engagement activities
  • Promote Census participation through community visits and presentations
  • Maintain records of engagement activities via our ABS Stakeholder Management System
  • Develop, update, and review engagement plans for assigned regions
  • Collaborate with other Census staff to provide cultural considerations and area-level intelligence
  • Provide in-field assistance for Census operational activities
  • Store Census promotional materials securely
  • Provide regular updates to the Remote Operations Management team

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Ability to connect and engage with a range of service providers and communicate effectively
  • Sound local area knowledge and ability to read and navigate maps
  • Capability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and make decisions independently
