Job Overview

The Environmental Forest Officer provides management of commercial forestry including all silviculture and establishment operations, timber sales, fire suppression and prevention activities in compliance with the Code of Practice for Timber Production and all other relevant Acts, Legislation, Regulations and Codes.

This position is also expected to support delivery of contracted work programs undertake catchment and land maintenance activities which may include fencing, native vegetation management, weed control, roading and slashing. The role will provide field support to manage reactive maintenance issues relevant to CHWs catchment land and water, parks and recreational assets.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage all forestry operations ensuring compliance with EMS and OH&S procedures and requirements.
  • Coordinate all harvesting and haulage operations ensuring compliance with specific tender specifications.
  • Manage and maintain records of all transactions and activities of timber sales and forestry operations including coupe plans volumes plantings and schedules.
  • Develop forestry plans to ensure protection of water quality and the natural environment.
  • Assist in the management of and participation in the Forest Industry Brigade (FIB) to ensure it meets all requirements under the CFA Act.
  • Undertake fire prevention and suppression planning and activities as they relate to the role liaising with external stakeholders and agencies in matters relating to Regional Fire Management.
