Launch Operations SpecialistAbout the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a key member of our marine services team, providing vital support to vessels and maintaining the upkeep of our port facilities. As a Launch Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our launches, including routine maintenance and servicing of main engines and ancillary equipment.

Your role will involve preparing statistics and reports of vessel activities and performance, as well as assisting with maintenance tasks as required. You will also be expected to use oil pollution response equipment under the direction of our emergency response coordinators.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a Master Class V Certificate of Competency and Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 of Competency, along with administrative experience and strong computer literacy. Additionally, you will require the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate launches for pilot transfer, minor maintenance and servicing of main engines and ancillary equipment;
  • Prepare statistics and reports of vessel activities and performance;
  • Assist with maintenance of port assets as required (i.e. wharf and navigation aids); and
  • Use oil pollution response equipment as necessary under the direction of Transport SA or Flinders Ports emergency response coordinators.
Requirements
  • Master Class V Certificate of Competency;
  • Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 of Competency;
  • Administrative experience and strong computer literacy;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Current Drivers Licence;
  • Trade Qualification and/or understanding of Electrical systems highly desired.
