Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist to join our team at Cairns Regional Council. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive and professional financial advice and support across all areas of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist in the month-end process, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts for approval by the Council.
  • Work with financial system users and finance staff to ensure optimal application of business systems and processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business degree or similar.
  • Studying towards, or eligibility and willingness to study, Certified Practising Accountant status (CPA Australia) or Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia).
  • Experience in commercial and/or government accounting, along with experience in budget development, budget analysis, and the development and monitoring of performance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with an ability to build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
