We are seeking an experienced Digital Editor - Storytelling Lead to join our team. As a key member of our editorial department, you will be responsible for managing the homepage, sourcing, curating, and ranking news. You will work closely with digital producers to ensure that every story, image, and video has a compelling headline and engaging content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the homepage, ensuring that it is visually appealing and informative.
  • SOURCE, CURATE, AND RANK NEWS: Use your competitive nature, skill, instinct, and headline testing programs to ensure every story, image, and video has a sell and image that maximises its ability to attract eyeballs and resonate with the audience.
  • Use picture and image editing platforms to create engaging images for stories and videos.
  • THRIVE IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT: Juggle multiple tasks at once and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate excellent news judgement and an innate understanding of what readers want as well as a sound knowledge of media and defamation law.
  • Work directly with our team of news editors and reporters, as well as the social and off-platform teams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet KPIs, growth, and development plans.
Requirements:
  • At least five years' experience working in a newsroom.
  • Across what's happening in the national and international news cycle.
  • Familiarity with visual storytelling, understanding what works in video news, and up-to-date with social video best practices.
  • Data-driven and love using analytics to inform content decisions.
  • Thrive in a high-paced news environment and curious about finding efficiencies in existing processes and systems.
