Animal Research Specialist

About the Role

This role involves contributing to delivering solutions for the livestock industry. The successful candidate will work with a skilled team in the Agriculture & Food Research Unit, focusing on research projects that aim to reduce methane emissions from grazing cattle and improve productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine animal handling tasks and operational duties under general supervision.
  • Design and conduct routine protocols to achieve research objectives.
  • Collect samples according to defined standards and ensure proper storage and identification.
  • Identify and report anomalies and collaborate on solutions where necessary.
Requirements
  • A tertiary level degree or equivalent relevant work experience in livestock husbandry.
  • Demonstrated livestock experience, including general husbandry and understanding animal behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability for accurate record keeping and data entry software skills.
