SunCable is pioneering the world's largest solar energy infrastructure network, enabling cities to be powered by renewable energy.

The Project

Our flagship project, AAPowerLink (Australia-Asia Power Link), will harness and store solar energy from a reliable source in the Northern Territory of Australia for 24/7 transmission to Darwin and Singapore via a high-voltage direct current system.

The Role

As Principal Engineer, Power Systems, you will lead the development, execution, and commissioning of transmission systems across HVAC and HVDC.

The scope covers:

  • Technical Support: feasibility studies, conceptual design, and specifications.
  • Design and Engineering: scope development, technology selection, planning.
  • Collaborate with engineers, OEMs, and consultants to assess performance and impact on the transmission grid.
  • Develop technical specifications for HVDC systems and services in accordance with international standards.
  • Work with developer teams to develop a viable approach for OHTL and HVDC projects.
  • Provide expert input to contracting and procurement strategies and contribute to tendering, negotiation, and selection of equipment and contractors.

Ideal Profile

Experience and qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in OHTL, HVDC systems, MV/HV AC transmission systems, including project development and delivery.
  • Deep experience with VSCs, switchgear, and infrastructure, have operated as a key interface with domestic and international teams.
  • Have worked closely and effectively with systems integration teams across network modeling, energy balance, DA, and SG grid connections.
  • A proven track record of developing constructive relationships with internal and external partners, stakeholders.
  • Experience providing effective leadership accountability across a project organization.
  • Highly skilled in project team development, clarity of instructions, and consensus building.
  • Deep experience in project control methods and key metric reporting.
  • Negotiation and execution of complex EPC contracts.
  • Knowledgeable about industry standards, legislative requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Experienced in managing a stakeholder set across a diverse geography.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer certification desirable.
