Studio Manager, Multimedia and Immersive Technologies

About the Role:
The Studio Manager - Multimedia, Audio Visual and Immersive Technologies is a critical position within the Operations Division at UNSW Australia. This role is responsible for supporting students, researchers, and staff from across the university, with a strong emphasis on engagement and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with diverse university groups to gather feedback and refine AV and immersive technology applications.
- Facilitate feedback loops by organizing regular meetings and forums to collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders.
- Coordinate showcases and arrange demonstrations of new AV and immersive technologies.
- Promote the research and development of the studio process, working closely with academic and internal IT departments.
- Enhance external collaboration by developing and maintaining relationships with industry partners and external entities.
- Provide multimedia and immersive technology guidance and support to UNSW lecturers in the studio.
- Support the continuous deployment of audio-visual system installations, including integration of technology, immersive, VR, holograph, and audio spaces and technologies.
- Provide on-site guidance and coaching to audio visual team and team leaders in the delivery of administrative, technical, and professional services.
- Support multimedia and immersive technologies in the studio, including video, audio, musical, virtual reality, augmented reality, generative AI, metaverse concepts, and robotics.
- Support software associated with multimedia and immersive technologies in the studio and for individual computers.
- Monitor usage and feedback of the studio to provide advice and recommendations to the MAVI Team Leaders and Manager.
- Develop and manage effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring high-quality, efficient customer service is provided.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience in the operation, maintenance, and installation of audio visual and immersive multimedia systems.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in specialized multimedia systems and immersive technologies, including audio and video production, musical technologies, VR, AR, and more.
- Experience and current ability to record and edit sound and video.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, brief contractors, meet critical deadlines, and provide customer service in a customer-facing environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflicting priorities, work effectively on multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage time, and ensure targeted outcomes.
- Superior problem-solving skills with complex audio visual and multimedia systems, including control systems, and the ability to exercise judgment, use initiative, and leverage data to uncover trends and implement solutions.
- Relevant experience in a large and complex organization with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to review existing processes, provide recommendations to stakeholders, and implement innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in technical planning and technical management of multimedia solutions in an education and research context and related systems.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
