Job Description:
The role of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader is to develop, implement and evaluate a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing for students, staff and families.
This involves building capability across the school community with regard to mental health and wellbeing, providing support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs, and establishing clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of primary school communities and be able to develop strategies to promote positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
They will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating student progress and implementing evidence-based interventions as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing
- Provide support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs
- Establish clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and implement evidence-based interventions as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders.
They will also have a strong understanding of child development and mental health principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a primary school setting.
A teaching qualification and experience working in a primary school environment would be highly regarded.
