
Building Maintenance Specialist

The primary goal of this role is to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and review maintenance work on building assets to guarantee organisational targets and standards are being achieved, taking corrective action if necessary.
- Monitor and evaluate programmed maintenance activities to ensure day-to-day tasks are undertaken when scheduled and to the required standard.
- Carry out minor maintenance duties to restore and maintain the standard for buildings and assets as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings to identify any faults or outstanding maintenance issues and report them to the relevant team member.
- Perform programmed maintenance activities including incidental street sign and parking sign maintenance as required.
- Organise quotations and arrange for sub-contractors to undertake specific maintenance work and access facilities as necessary.
- Assist in monitoring and reviewing building maintenance contracts and programs as required.
- Ensure compliance by contractors through regular inspections and audits, dealing with minor breaches and referring major issues to the relevant team member.
- Procure materials to complete requested work and authorise payments of invoices as per authorised procedures, ensuring budget expenditure is continually monitored and reviewed to meet agreed targets.
- Complete regular and ad hoc records and statistics of work as required and provide reports as necessary to the relevant team member on the section's activities.
- Receive public and general enquiries, complaints, and correspondence, taking appropriate action in line with established policies and practices to maintain a customer-focused service.
- Identify opportunities for improving systems of work, policies, and practices to enhance the Business Management System.
Requirements include:
- Possession of an appropriate building qualification in Builder's Registration, Building Supervision, or Building Construction, or a recognised equivalent.
- Previous relevant experience within the building industry, particularly in building maintenance.
- Previous exposure to project management within the building sector.
- Ability to work effectively both as a team member and autonomously under minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements relevant to this position.
- Ability to acquire the appropriate legislative endorsements, e.g., Construction Induction - Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card), combined with a good understanding of Work Occupational Health and Safety requirements relevant to this position.
- Possession of materials ordering experience.
- Previous exposure to budget preparation and management.
- Proven knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations relevant to Buildings.
