About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Support Worker to provide front of house assistance to Cafe attendees at The Salvation Army's Twilight Cafe.

This is a fixed-term, part-time position (10 hours per week, Wednesday and Thursday 3pm-8pm) based in Melbourne, VIC. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with people in a non-threatening and empathetic manner to promote social inclusion and provide a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients in a respectful and empathetic manner to promote social inclusion and provide a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Manage client behavior effectively and appropriately to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all attendees.
  • Coordinate the setup and service of meals and beverages in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide day-to-day support for volunteer activities and relay performance feedback to the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in community services or a related discipline is desirable.
  • A current and valid employee Victorian Working with Children Check is required.
  • Experience in community services is desirable.
