
Resilience Building Specialist

The Disaster Recovery Program Officer will lead the development and implementation of disaster recovery policies and strategies that align with sector best practices, promoting Council's leadership in the field. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders to integrate community engagement and capacity-building activities into resilience-building programs.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and developing disaster recovery policies and strategies, working with the Principal Disaster Management & Engagement Officer to integrate community engagement and capacity-building activities into resilience-building programs, raising awareness and assisting local government partners in prioritising critical objectives outlined in the Recovery Sub Plan, developing and sustaining the Council's recovery capability, providing analysis and expert advice to Moreton Bay Local Disaster Management and Recovery Groups, managing the budget within delegations of this position, and fulfilling duties in the Moreton Recovery Group and On Call arrangements as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Proven experience leading a small team and delivering disaster recovery programs with a resilience-building and community development approach.
- Excellent people and relationship management skills to work with stakeholders from all levels of government, non-government organisations, support services, and residents.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills to empower disaster preparedness.
- Experience building productive relationships with statutory authorities, government agencies, and community entities.
- Detailed knowledge of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA) and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure, including engaging community members exposed to trauma and direct impacts of disaster.
