Job Overview

The role of Bioinformatics Lead is a critical position within our organisation, responsible for leading the development and implementation of bioinformatics services and activities.

This position will oversee the management of bioinformatics projects, delivering outcomes that align with our service offerings and operating with a degree of autonomy. The role will design and develop bioinformatics pipelines, improve methodologies, and collaborate with colleagues to drive innovation.

The successful candidate will have expertise in translating complex data into actionable insights, interacting with customers to ensure service offerings meet their needs, and assisting with organisational process improvements. Additionally, this individual will liaise with staff to ensure efficient facility operations and promote a community of practice for facility users.

We are a national network of facilities providing plant synthetic biology infrastructure and expertise to drive accelerated gains in agricultural productivity and environmentally sustainable bio-manufacturing.

Our organisation enables plant synthetic biology services for agricultural crops and synthetic biology projects in model plants, providing infrastructure and expertise for research providers, government institutions, and industry partners.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Masters degree in Bioinformatics or related field.
  • Experience in High Performance Computing environments and proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, Perl.
  • Evidence of high-quality publications showcasing bioinformatics analyses.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders through technical service provision.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience to improve performance and maintain an outcome-focused approach.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in managing multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Experience in genomic architecture analysis and metabolic pathway modelling would be beneficial.
