Supporting individuals with disabilities requires a unique blend of skills, knowledge, and personal qualities.
The role of a support professional is to empower clients to make informed decisions about their lives, promote community inclusion, and facilitate independence.
A successful candidate will have the ability to provide personalized care and support services that cater to individual needs, focusing on empowerment and self-advocacy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing care plans in line with client goals and objectives
- Assisting with daily tasks, domestic assistance, respite services, and social support
- Transporting clients to appointments and activities
- Preparing meals and facilitating group participation
- Developing life skills and promoting independence
Qualifications and requirements include:
- Cert III Individual Support or equivalent
- Current WWCC, Criminal Record Check, and First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Screening Check and Induction
- COVID Safe Training
- Driver's License and reliable vehicle
- Smart phone
Experience and skills required:
- Minimum 6 months relevant experience
- Experience supporting people with disabilities
- Demonstrated Continuing Professional Development
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles
Suitable candidates will possess:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other computer systems
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
