The role of a Child Consultant involves providing high-quality support to families in need, promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct child-focused interviews to provide parents with valuable feedback.
  • Facilitate parent interviews to reduce conflict and improve post-separation co-parenting relationships.
  • Provide guidance to parents during mediation sessions to realign co-parenting relationships.
  • Deliver post-separation co-parenting sessions, ensuring a smooth transition for all parties involved.
  • Undertake comprehensive screening and assessments, as well as case management, using approaches that meet program requirements.
  • Assess, identify, and develop interventions for risk factors such as family and domestic violence, child abuse, drug and alcohol use, and mental health issues.
  • Implement practice with a child-focused approach at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including families, mediators, and other professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably in a family dispute resolution context.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
