Job Opportunity: Neurosurgery Specialist

The Western Sydney Local Health District invites suitably qualified medical practitioners to apply for the Visiting Medical Officer position in the Neurosurgery Department at Westmead Hospital.

This role involves assisting with high-demand surgical and clinical waitlists for spinal surgery. The successful applicant will work effectively with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, ensuring seamless communication with patients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with surgical and clinical waitlists for spinal surgery
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide quality patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain knowledge, skills, and professional performance to meet contemporary practice standards
Essential Requirements
  1. Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent qualifications
  2. Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge in neurosurgery through successful clinical practice
  3. Hold FRACS (Neurosurgery) or have completed satisfactory neurosurgery training
Selection Criteria
  • FRACS (Neurosurgery) or completion of neurosurgery training
  • Evidence of satisfactory neurosurgery training completion
  • Interest or experience in spinal surgery demonstrated
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively
Working With Children Check
