Research Scientist in Statistical Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD student to join our research team in the field of statistical machine learning.
Our group focuses on developing innovative methodologies and computational techniques for complex problems in ocean engineering and metocean applications. As a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to work with a vibrant international team of researchers in statistics, data science, and ocean engineering.
The successful applicant will be part of the Australian Research Council's (ARC) Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Transforming energy Infrastructure through Digital Engineering (TIDE). You will engage in collaboration across institutions, travel between locations, and work with both Australian and international collaborators.
A generous scholarship is available to fund your studies for three years full-time. An additional top-up scholarship may also be provided for outstanding candidates. Tuition fees for international students will be waived.
To be eligible, you should hold an Honours undergraduate degree or a Masters degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, or a closely related field. Strong mathematical and programming skills, as well as an interest in using them to model and predict environmental or engineering phenomena, are essential.
