About the Role

The APS is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Promoter to join the Directorate of Military Mental Health and Psychology. As a Mental Health Promoter, you will play a crucial role in delivering Mental Health Promotion strategies, activities, and training to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) community.

About the Team

You will be part of a small, geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary team that provides mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention services to support ADF members. The Directorate of Military Mental Health and Psychology is involved in a range of activities supporting the mental health and psychological effectiveness of ADF personnel.

About the Job

As a Mental Health Promoter, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering workshops on suicide prevention, mental health and wellbeing, and alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs;
  • Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives;
  • Collaborating with a geographically dispersed team to promote and communicate training, resources, and events to the ADF community;
  • Providing administrative support as part of training governance requirements;
  • Minor technical support to online training, occasional work on weekends, and outside of core business hours.
  • Requirements
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in the relevant discipline, and/or have extensive experience in Mental Health Promotion/Health Promotion, Psychology, Positive Psychology, Wellbeing Science, Health Education, Community Development and Engagement.
  • Able to work closely and collaboratively with immediate manager, work effectively as part of a small team, and work independently as required.
  • Confidence to engage with broad and diverse stakeholders, able to deliver a number of workshops across different topics, and hold CBT qualifications and/or experience.
  • Hold a current driver's license and have the ability to travel when required.
