Mental Health Transition to Practice Program

Job Description:

The Mental Health Transition to Practice program is designed for experienced Registered Nurses seeking to transition into the field of Mental Health Nursing. This 12-month structured program provides a supportive environment for nurses to develop core skills and competency in mental health care.

Nurses will have opportunities to work across various clinical areas, supported by a clinical nurse educator, and participate in allocated education days and paid study leave. The program incorporates clinical experience, education, and support with post-graduate qualifications to assist Registered Nurses to develop skills and competency as a Mental Health Nurse.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A current practicing certificate in nursing issued by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation (AHPRA)
  • An understanding of health assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions
  • Commitment to mental health consumer recovery
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and effectively within a team, displaying high professional conduct and reliability
