About the Role

Lifeblood is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our centre, you will play a vital role in supporting donors through their donation process.

You will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors, creating a positive donor experience, and completing routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests.

A day in the centre could see you:

  • Greet and interview donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Create a donor experience they'll love—and want to come back
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and collections equipment
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation
  • Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets

No prior experience in blood collection is needed, as we provide paid and flexible self-paced training.

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials. You will also need to be able to occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs, support and foster a fantastic team culture, frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products, and be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday, including weekends, afternoons and evening shifts.
