Radiochemist Specialist

This position is a critical component of SGS's radioanalytical services section, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will oversee method development and validation activities to achieve national accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain radioanalytical preparation and counting laboratory facilities to ensure optimal performance.
• Prepare environmental samples for radionuclide analysis, adhering to strict quality control procedures.
• Process data, including radioactivity calculations, and prepare reports for clients.
• Routine calibration and maintenance of radiation counting systems and associated analytical laboratory instrumentation.
• Ensure all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to NATA and ISO17025 standards.
• Monitor and maintain timely turnaround times, taking immediate action to address potential delays.
• Develop and validate new methods and procedures to enhance laboratory capabilities.
• Design and implement training plans for staff to ensure a competent and cross-trained workforce.
• Provide technical support and respond to client inquiries regarding radioanalysis services.
• Collaborate with clients to determine appropriate analyses based on their specific needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Science degree in a relevant field, such as nuclear physics or radiochemistry.
• Commercial environmental laboratory experience, with a focus on radioanalysis.
• NATA signatory or delegated NATA signatory status.
• Previous supervisory experience, with a proven track record of leadership.
