Position Overview
The Director of Anaesthesia will play a pivotal role within the clinical executive, overseeing the anaesthesia team in Gladstone and Banana. This position is essential for delivering high-quality, modern services that are seamlessly integrated within the clinical services framework of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS). Effective collaboration with other clinical departments is vital, alongside ongoing service enhancement and educational initiatives to ensure a sustainable anaesthesia service.
This role encompasses strategic leadership, service planning, and efficient management of anaesthesia and High Dependency Unit (HDU) services. The Director will also ensure the quality, cost-effectiveness, and successful delivery of anaesthesia services at Gladstone Hospital, while providing professional support to other facilities within the CQHHS.
Qualifications
Applicants must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and hold Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or possess equivalent qualifications as an overseas-trained specialist who has completed their training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or New Zealand.

Gladstone Hospital is an 83-bed facility offering a comprehensive range of general and specialized inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, general medicine and surgery, obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics. Additional services encompass Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service, oral health, physiotherapy, and community-based facilities.
