About the Role

We are seeking highly experienced legal professionals to join our team as EL1 Senior Legal Officers within the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Regulatory Design (NPSRD) team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level legal advice on major, complex, and sensitive issues supporting the creation of the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR).
  • Lead the provision of legal advice on commercial agreements, procurements, and the drafting and negotiation of memorandums of understanding.
  • Assist in the provision of legal advice on FOI and Privacy issues arising from the creation of the ANNPSR.
  • Develop and implement legal policy that informs the legislative parameters of the ANNPSR.
Requirements
  • Highly experienced legal professional with a strong understanding of legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy and legislative advice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage in complex to very complex problem-solving and issue management.
