About the West Gate Tunnel Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping initiative that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, providing quicker and safer journeys, and removing thousands of trucks from residential streets. The project involves:

  • Widening the West Gate Freeway from eight lanes to 12 between the M80 Ring Road and Williamstown Road;
  • Building a 2.8km eastbound tunnel and a 4km westbound tunnel under Yarraville;
  • Constructing a bridge over the Maribyrnong River, providing an alternative to the West Gate Bridge;
  • Constructing an elevated road along Footscray Road to the Port of Melbourne;
  • Major new cycling and pedestrian paths.
About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our team on the West Gate Tunnel Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the on-site teams to deliver relevant scopes of work in accordance with project plans and specifications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes;
  • Providing and taking leadership responsibility in health, safety, and environment management;
  • Contributing to the development of work method statements, rolling short-term construction programs, and planning daily/weekly production work;
  • Building strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive, and professional communication;
  • Completing progress reporting, activity reports for shift handovers, and consistent regular reporting to the Superintendent and/or Project Manager;
  • Ensuring compliance with commercial and financial costs, including budgets and the implications of directions within authority limits;
  • Reading and understanding plans, reviewing design documentation, reading drawings, providing constructive review, and implementing final designs;
  • Ensuring understanding of contractual mechanisms for subcontractors;
  • Identifying and mitigating risks prior to works commencing, communicating with and engaging relevant stakeholders to control risk;
  • Selecting, training, and developing leading hands, ensuring the observance of safety, work standards, and fair and reasonable application of industrial agreements.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • 2-5 years of previous construction experience in a similar role;
  • Substantial industry experience in trade and construction;
  • Technical competency and understanding in the area being supervised;
  • Skill in reviewing design documents, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review, and implement final design plans;
  • People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour;
  • Trade qualification or similar.
