Role Overview
Culturally Sensitive Practitioner - Supporting Children, Young People and Families to Address Problematic Sexual Behaviours. This full-time role involves working collaboratively with teams to provide culturally safe support and guidance. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized safety plans, conducting comprehensive assessments, and coordinating wrap-around services to meet the unique needs of each client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support clients and their families in a culturally sensitive manner, incorporating engagement in appropriate practice protocols, and community outreach.
  • Contribute to the development of cultural knowledge and practices within the team through individual case consultation, group supervision, and information sharing.
  • Develop, implement, and review safety plans that address strengths and areas of risk using a trauma-informed lens.
  • Coordinate a culturally safe pathway for wrap-around support by working closely with government agencies, schools, health services, and community organizations to deliver integrated services.
  • Identify and respond to risks, escalating concerns as necessary, and making reports where required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
  • Experience working respectfully with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families, and children.
  • Strong understanding of problematic sexual behaviours in children and young people, including associated risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and case planning skills, with a strengths-based approach.
