About the Role

Bulla Dairy Foods, a leading Australian dairy company, is seeking an experienced Safety Lead to join its Operations Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in driving a 'Safety First' culture through leadership, coaching, and development of safety and health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a Safe Workplace: Promote a safety-first culture and ensure Bulla Dairy Foods is a safe workplace for all employees.
  • Provide Advice and Support: Offer guidance and support to line managers to build their safety competence and provide expert health, safety, and wellbeing advice and technical support.
  • Legislative Compliance: Understand and interpret legislative compliance to OHS principles and ensure Bulla Dairy Foods meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Engage with internal and external business partners to enable and drive health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Drive Safety Initiatives: Deliver and understand toolbox meetings and safety alerts to drive safety on site.
  • Health and Safety Training: Develop and deliver Bulla Dairy Foods health and safety training programs.
  • Investigation and Reporting: Assist in the investigation of any issues identified as a result of audits and day-to-day operational activities and ensure all incidents are documented in a timely manner.
  • Chemical Management: Ensure chemicals have been risk assessed and updated in Chem-watch.
  • New Project Development: Actively involved in all site New Project Development (NPD) projects, site construction, and introduction of new plant and processes.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing: Conduct post-incident, reasonable suspicion, and random Drug and Alcohol testing as required.
  • OHS Strategic Plan: Assist the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager and Site Lead in developing an OHS strategic plan with key objectives and time frames for implementation.
  • Safety Documentation: Develop and review Bulla Dairy Foods safety documentation in accordance with legislative and business requirements.
  • Emergency Response Plans: Maintain, update, and manage emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Hazard Identification: Assist and promote hazard identification and identify risk control measures to minimize injury and property damage.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • FMCG and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Diploma in WHS, Injury Management, or similar preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Victorian OHS and Workers Compensation legislation and regulations.
  • Highly proactive, well-developed project management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Strong motivational skills with the capacity to positively influence people and to initiate and deliver change independently or through teamwork.
  • Ability to prepare detailed and practical reports and plans.
  • High level of competency in computer-based communication and information management tools and database systems.
