Job Title:

We are seeking a senior mechanical design specialist to lead the development of innovative load-handling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed specifications for cranes, hoists, and load-handling systems.
  • Analyze loads, movements, and dynamic behaviors to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Prepare lift rigging and motion studies to comply with industry standards.
  • Apply structural and mechanical engineering principles to ensure strength, fatigue, stability, braking, and motion dynamics are met.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to manage packages from specification to final testing.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across operations, maintenance, and asset ownership.
  • Embed risk management into every stage of the design process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in machine design, particularly cranes, hoists, and rail-mounted equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of structural and dynamic analysis, with experience applying standards such as AS3990, AS4100, AS1170, and AS4024.
  • Hands-on experience preparing rigging and motion studies.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier and package management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • A strong safety mindset and ability to embed risk management in design.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility for an Australian Defence Clearance.
