We are seeking a Medical Advisor/Claims Manager to join our team at Avant Mutual.
About the Role- The Medical Adviser will provide medical advice and expert opinion to inform business decisions within the Claims Department.
- The role involves contributing to special projects, writing articles, presenting at forums, and representing Avant and its members.
- Provide timely medical advice and guidance to Claims Managers, Avant Law, and external legal providers on medical issues related to claims and claims management.
- Manage claims proactively, reviewing clinical documentation, strategy, and providing strategic input into claim management.
- Educate members, staff, and external stakeholders in medico-legal, clinical risk, and claims matters.
- Contribute to the definition and achievement of the Claims department plans, goals, and objectives.
- Review relevant claims for committees.
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialist qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in medicine, law, or insurance is preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of the medical industry and medical indemnity legal system.
- Clinical experience, preferably with more than 10 years of postgraduate experience.
- Insurance or claims experience ideal.
- Legal system experience ideal.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, verbal, and written skills.
- Attention to detail, pragmatic approach, time management skills, and proactive attitude.
